Response to Chaudhry’s Article

Friday, August 31st, 2007

The internet is basically just an alternate world where people can do whatever they want, post whatever they want, and be whoever they want. MySpace, YouTube, online Blogs; all of these are just gateways to fame for whoever wishes to go there. People can post their own funny videos on YouTube, tear apart public figures in their public online blogs, or post false pictures of themselves on MySpace in order to get attention. It’s very interesting where this whole cyber world is going. Something fascinating that I got from the article was the fact about how many people didn’t think they were anything special back in the 60’s, a fact that has drastically changed since then. There is a certain sense of confidence you need to have within yourself, but in some cases, these online vehicles are allowing people to take it too far.

The Importance of Technology

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

Technology is probably one of the most important factors in my life, with music being the most important. I’ve been using computers since I was very young and I feel I have a very strong understanding of the inner workings of the Windows OS, as well as most programs that run on it; efficiency with computers and programs is important to me, and I feel I’ve achieved that on many levels. I’ve done a lot of video and audio editing in high school, making gaming movies for myself and other people, along with the occasional project for school (using Sony Soundforge, Video Vegas, etc.). I tend to catch on to new products and devices pretty quickly because I’ve been exposed to similar ideas for so long that I have acquired a good general understanding of “how things work” and how to figure things out quickly. I’m a big fan of organization and customization when it comes to computers (especially my laptop); everything is always in the right place, never disorganized or scattered, and the interface of my laptop is customized exactly how I want it. Having a smudged screen is never acceptable to me, and my laptop desktop is never cluttered. I almost always respond instantly to emails because I have all of my email addresses synced with Outlook, which is always open when I’m on the computer.

I love all sorts of electronics: phones, cameras, mp3 players, etc. I have a pretty good 6.1 mega pixel camera that I love, an 80GB iPod that I use every day, and a brand new titanium phone with a crystal clear LCD screen. A firm grasp on technology is definitely going to be a hugely important trait to have, especially because of how the technology based world is evolving.
