Are you really famous??
Thursday, August 30th, 2007I thought the arguement is able to be backed up. I actually kind of agree with what the author was saying. Everyone is looking for their own 15 minutes of fame, even though they know it’s not going to last and they’re not going to be a famous movie star someday just by posting a YouTube clip or having the most friends on MySpace for a day. I thought the angle about how people are able to change their personae on the net and no one will ever know the real them, until they’re exposed was really cool. Plus, this is totally true. Anyone could post something or pretend like they are someone else on the internet. There is nothing stopping old scary men from pretending they are someone else trying to talk to young girls. I thought the most interesting part of the whole post was when the author pointed out that 50% of kids under the age of 12 think that it’s part of “American Dream” to be famous or a movie star. Kids these days have a warped sense of what really is going to happen in normal average American’s lives. People keep telling them they can be whatever they want to be, when in reality this may not be the case, though they should strive for their dreams.
